Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?

The general belief is that the chick came to the world before the egg. In fact, in a scientific study published in 2010, a group of British scientists concluded that eggshell protein could only be produced by chickens, therefore the chicken came to the world first, and the egg came from the chicken.
