We use wet plucking management in our slaughterhouse. While dry plucking is a new technology, it doesn’t actually mean that the chickens are plucked completely dry. In dry plucking, the feather roots of the chicken are softened with steam during plucking, whereas in wet plucking, the feather roots are softened with hot water and then plucked. The goal in both techniques is to soften the feather roots so they can be plucked easily without damaging the skin. There is no objection in terms of “Halal” for either plucking process.
